Visiting Kolej DPAH Abdillah: School Outreach in Kuching

Following our visits to schools in Miri and Bintulu, we continued our school outreach activities in Kuching, where we visited three secondary schools.

Kolej Datu Patinggi Abang Haji Abdillah (commonly known as Kolej DPAH Abdillah) is a public secondary school located in Kuching, Sarawak. The school offers education for Forms 1 to 5 and places a strong emphasis on academic excellence, alongside active participation in co-curricular activities.

The school also offers Japanese language education as one of its foreign language options, with approximately 100 students currently studying Japanese. In addition, students are provided with opportunities to participate in short-term study visits to Japan, enhancing their international exposure and cultural experience. Students from the school have also participated in Science Castle Asia 2025, where professors from UTMy served as assessors.

During our visit, we met with the school counsellor to introduce our academic programme and to discuss potential directions for future collaboration. The teachers demonstrated a strong commitment to enhancing student motivation, including initiatives such as study visits to Japan. We would be able to offer the school an opportunity to visit the Tsukuba Campus in the future.

Although we were unable to meet the students on this occasion, we look forward to returning in the near future and hope to have the opportunity to engage directly with their outstanding students.
