The Embassy of Japan in Malaysia will host a special two-day event, “Special Talk & Workshop,” on Saturday 28 March and Sunday 29 March, 2026, offering participants a rare opportunity to learn directly from professional manga and animation creators Sanpo Yokoi and Rokkakkei.

On Saturday 28 March, a talk session will be held in collaboration with Nippon Designers School Malaysia College. Running from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the session will explore creativity and the artistic learning process from the perspective of professional Japanese creators.

The following day, Sunday 29 March, the programme will continue at University of Tsukuba, Malaysia, featuring a talk session with a live drawing demonstration from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. In the afternoon, a hands-on manga workshop from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. will allow participants to create their own manga-style illustrations using traditional tools under the guidance of the artists.

Advance registration is required, with applications closing at 12:00 p.m. on Friday 27 March, 2026. The event is expected to attract students and aspiring creators interested in gaining firsthand insight into Japan’s manga and animation industry.
