On 18 February, 2025, a delegation from the Sport Wellness Urban Revitalization Consortium, led by Professor Dr. Shinya Kuno, Institute of Health and Sports Sciences, University of Tsukuba, visited UTMy as part of their ongoing strategic initiative in Southeast Asia.
The Sport Wellness Urban Revitalization Consortium has outlined the following key objectives for its "Strategic Project: Sports and Wellness in Southeast Asia":
- ▪Fostering collaborative projects aimed at driving new business and innovation
- ▪Facilitating exchanges between Japanese participants and industry-academia stakeholders in Singapore and Malaysia, to cultivate new business opportunities.
- ▪Showcasing Japan's cutting-edge research and initiatives to government and business leaders in Singapore and Malaysia, fostering collaboration opportunities.
As part of this initiative, individuals scheduled to enrol in the Master's Program in Sport and Wellness Promotion at the University of Tsukuba—operated by the Consortium in collaboration with its partner institutions through the Collaborative Graduate School System—visited UTMy to further strengthen academic and institutional ties.
During the visit, the delegation was warmly welcomed by Professor Dr. Maki Tsujimura, Dean of the School of Transdisciplinary Science and Design, who provided insights into UTMy’s innovative teaching methods.
The meeting also included fruitful discussions on potential future collaborations with the Consortium.
This visit not only highlighted the value of industry partnerships but also strengthened the internal collaboration between University of Tsukuba and UTMy, setting the stage for future academic and research collaborations.
