Site Visit to Shimadzu Malaysia
On March 4 2025, students from the University of Tsukuba, Malaysia (UTMy) had the privilege of visiting Shimadzu Malaysia as part of their "Society and Career" class.
This visit, led by Professor Dr. Maki Tsujimura and Professor Dr. Hiromi Mochiyama, provided an invaluable opportunity for students to explore the role of analytical instruments in various industries.
Founded in 1875, Shimadzu is renowned for manufacturing state-of-the-art chromatography and spectroscopy equipment that enables precise chemical analysis. During the visit, our students were introduced to some of Shimadzu’s top-tier products—technologies that have even contributed to solving criminal cases.
A highlight of the visit was the hands-on demonstration of Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR) Spectroscopy and Ultra-Violet Visible (UV-Vis) Spectroscopy, where students experienced firsthand how these instruments analyze colours from food dyes and inspecting the substances that make up various items.
We extend our sincerest gratitude to Shimadzu Malaysia for their hospitality and for offering our students valuable insights into career opportunities in Shimadzu Malaysia.
