Physical Education (PE) in UTMy

The University of Tsukuba, including at UTMy  is proud to offer Physical Education (PE) as a required component of its curriculum.

The educational purpose for all undergraduate students at University of Tsukuba includes -  “To cultivate the ability to appreciate art and sports, and to be moved by outstanding cultural activities”. We believe that PE courses help students to develop their ability to maintain mental and physical health through the understanding, practice, etc. of arts and sports and be conscious of one’s responsibility and put it into practice as a citizen with humanity and ethics.

First-year students at UTMy, participate in PE classes designed to promote physical well-being and discipline. In the Fall semester, students engage in badminton classes, while in the Spring semester, they transition to dance classes, and students joined first dance class this week.

During their second year, students expand their experiences with tennis classes and traditional martial arts, such as Kendo and Judo. We believe that these classes are an integral part of our identity as a comprehensive university.
