Opening Doors for Students Studying Japanese
Following the education fair in the morning, UTMy visited Kolej Tun Datu Tuanku Haji Bujang (KTDTHB) in the early afternoon.
The school kindly organised a special talk session for nearly 130 students at the very beginning of the new academic year, providing a timely opportunity to introduce pathways for students interested in studying Japanese and pursuing further education related to Japan.
KTDTHB is a historic government boarding secondary school in Miri, Sarawak. Located approximately five kilometres from the Miri city centre, the school offers a learning environment with a spacious campus and scenic views, well suited for academic and residential life.
Currently, more than 150 students at KTDTHB are studying Japanese under the guidance of Puan Mani Arasi Nagoo, a dedicated Japanese language teacher with over 17 years of teaching experience. She completed her degree studies in Japan and has been instrumental in nurturing students’ interest in the Japanese language and culture.
We also had the honour of meeting the school principal, SHIHAN Jumari Bin Hashim, who is well known as the Chief Instructor of Malaysia Goshin-ryu Karate, Sarawak, and a strong advocate of Japanese culture.
Among the students, we met a finalist of last year’s JFKL Speech Contest, who expressed strong motivation to pursue further studies in Japan. We are keen to support such outstanding students and hope to meet her again in Kuala Lumpur at this year’s speech contest.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to SHIHAN Jumari Bin Hashim and Puan Mani Arasi Nagoo for warmly hosting us despite this being one of the busiest times of the academic year.
